Almost all of us mess with Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or something similar.
I am thinking it would be best to share your practices and knowledge as much as possible
To expanded our programs usefulness.
This thread will deal with the program use techniques instead of art techniques as in the other threads. No I don’t know what I am doing really, but that has not stopped me making a fool of myself in the past. Hopefully you will share you hard earned tid bits of wisdom from your experience and new experimentations.
Here is a few of the usual subjects.
Fonts:
It looks like Photoshop can utilize any Windows System Fonts?
And if so where can I find a shitload of good fonts?
Can we pool fonts and share them?
Brushes:
I found out that I can import brushes from regular Full Photoshop versions and use them in Elements. (theoretically) I have not found any free ones that are useful or good.
Plug ins:
Plug ins can be used from all versions of Photoshop in Elements and vice versa.
Filters:
I know you can customize your filters in the Full version of Photoshop
and import them directly.
I am horribly reamed in the anus with this along with no Line Vectoring in Elements I swear the programmers should have at least given me a jar of lube so it would not be so painful!.
However! I can define any background image as a brush or a filter!
I am not sure how to use this effectively but there should be a simple way…
Also other popular programs have compatibilities like importing brushes and stuff from Photoshop and using them in Photopainter.
All knowledge is welcome however, please put the name of the program in bold with the : sign as the starting words of the paragraph so that we do not get them mixed up. More than one program per post can be put in as separate paragraphs.
Edit: SK wanted this attached to the same post.
Photoshop 6 + and Elements 2 +
Ok simple example of a simple idea, since you can save back grounds as brushes or filters.
One might think that you could
1). Open a picture
2). Erase the said picture entirely
3) save picture as blank PSD
4) Apply a filter or brush you made over the entire page at maximum intensity and rename it whatever you want to call the filter or effect.
5) Send friend said PSD. File
6) Friend opens said file and saves it as a photo filter or brush.
By saving it at maximum you can adjust the strength downward for full spectrum flexibility. That way you do not have the brush saved at different settings such as 1 strong, and 2nd saved at medium and a 3rd saved at low. For each effect.
(obvious shameless attempt of mine to bring up elements 3.0)
Discuss feasibility or your prior attempts of this please.
