(well, I still can't write poetry. I thoought I'd share a few old ones)
My family is a mixed family, We share nothing in common save for our passion. Does that make it wrong? My family and I breath, eat, and live life together, So I don’t see the problems.
My family is a mixed family, People of our separate races look down on us. What does color matter in happiness? We are there for one another, we love one another, So I don’t see what’s wrong.
My family and I are hurting ‘cause they don’t see, That who we are is who we are, And with us we are color blind, gender blind, But still they don’t see. That people are who they choose to be.
My family is a mixed family. We have overcome the small mindedness of others, We are on another level. Can’t they see they are wrong, can’t they see… When we are all this way, racial problems will cease.

I really like this one! ;D I love how some of the lines rhyme. You sure emphasized sight a lot, which, well, has to do with race. It's all visual. And cultural.
