We're all living (at least I hope you are )...so what's the true meaning of life to you? Is it just to live and in the end, kick the bucket?
For me, I think an important part is to carry out your destiny. I know a lot of people don't agree with the idea of destiny or fate, since they don't want to believe that some outside force is affecting the way they live their lives instead of the individual. I, however, very much believe in fate and destiny. It explains a lot of things to me, and the choices I tend to make. There's always the question that sometimes arises in one's mind, such as "Why the hell did I do that?"...but fate makes a great target to place the blame on.
But back to the original question. I think it's important to enjoy life, but not get too attached to it. I mean, being attached is important, but if you don't know that it will eventually come to an end, death will be a more painful and unacceptable thought. Humans tend to get attached to all of the material possessions they have and that's usually one of the big fears of death: leaving things behind. But you can't really take them with you to the afterlife (if you believe in it), can you? I mean, yeah, your expensive beach house and your fancy car may have taken a lot of work in your lifetime, but in all honesty, did you really expect it to last?
Humans also tend to fear the uncertain. No one really knows about the afterlife, and if there really is one. I have faith in God, so through religion I know that there is a heaven and hell, but if you want to be scientific and technical, you could say that I have no idea. Although it is true...and uncertainty is another common fear in society.
As you can probably tell, I don't fear death...at least not in the way most people do. I don't want to die yet, but when that moment comes, I don't think I'd be afraid since I know that everything comes to an end. Every moment that I 'live' is a moment off of my life's clock. Every second I live is killing me. A pessimistic point of view, but that's the way I see it.
But my original point of life's meaning is: while you live, enjoy it. But be prepared.
What are your theories on life's meaning?
EDIT: Thought of something else, so I added it in here.
