Abortion. Is it right? Should the mother be allowed to give up her unborn child? Well... is it her unborn child? Does she have a right to take a life for any reason?
I say she does. We`ve all heard the worst case senarios if we`ve had this discussion before: Maybe we`ve used it against a prolife right winger: "What if the female was raped by her father?" or "What if the female is told her baby will live in terrible pain for the rest of its life?". Although I hate these arguements cause they seem so cliche, they are very convincing. What if indeed? What if the mother can`t support the child or take care of it emotionally? It gets interesting when we take the extreme 'what if' examples and tone them down notches until we come to everyday senarios. What if the father is dead or has abandoned the family? Is this reason to kill a child? Is the life the mothers to take? Can the government interviene to save a life if it is not the mothers life to take?
The past paragraph poses many questions. Questions that have answers that depend on the specific situation, but more problematic, morality, which is humanly (if there is such a word) reletive. I believe in those extreme cases abortion should be allowed and accepted, but as the cases become less extreme, my opinion becomes more flaky.
I feel as if I`ve answered this all by myself, but my opinion probably isn`t fact. So, if you have an opinion on if mothers should be able to abort children, or if it is theirs to abort, or on anything else regarding mothers, abortion and the government, feel free to kick my ass and tell me I`m completely wrong and should go to hell or agree and pose your position.
