Heres a question for you.
Would you take a cheap ass working computer, with non brand name parts.
Or would you take an expensive brand name computer?
Meaning, If you could get a fast computer, but not foolproof to crashes and burnups for say....300 dollars, would you take it?
Or would you take the computer that would never crash, never burn up, always be fast but cost about 900 dollars?
I ask because I have some friends that want fast, but cheap. Reliable, but cheap. I keep tellin them that in the computer industry, you get what you pay for, it still has yet to ring.
So...I should probaly request Bakabaka to make this a poll *makes note* But what would you do?

Well...I do like the idea of speed and cheap expenses...but ultimately, I'd have to go with the more durable computer. Since this college has a server that is shut down due to various viruses that it contracts and whatnot on a weekly basis, I'd go with whatever has the most updated system to aviod maximum damage. But generally, I guess it all comes down to what you're willing to pay. If you have a nice sum of money you've put away for something nice, you'll probably be leaning towards the comps at a higher price. But yep, you get what you pay for...it all depends on how much you're comfortable spending.

I'd rather go ahead and spend the money to get a dependable computer that I know will have little to know problems, then having to deal with a high replacement cost from the cheap computer. I'd definitely drop $900 for the good comp.

Higher cost if it can be afforded. Think of it this way, with the proper know-how, both systems can be hardened and made your slaves to do your perfect bidding. But like SP said, replacement cost will eventually = Original cost. OR, you can get an extended warranty for the same price. The problem still is that hardware breaks and no matter how much you paid for that Norton Proffessional Antivirus and How many firewalls you have, a dead HDD or burnt up CPU makes everything worthless. But it is quite possible to work extremely well with cheap disposable systems.
