It`s general knowledge that New Orleans is below sea level and has always seen a flooding as a major threat to the city. So when FEMA hears about a class five hurricane heading towards the coast a week in advance, what was their plan? Because to me, it seems as if the city was completely taken by surprise. Me personally, I`d have evacuated myself and slept in my car outside the city. Seriously. If I were FEMA, I`d have bolstered the city so it couldn`t be flooded. I hear they have what are called 'leeves'; some measure that protects them from flooding (I`d imagine some sort of wall). Why weren`t they made better? Why create something that can fail in the worst cases? When it`s about the lives of millions of people - a whole city - shouldn`t anything created for their protection be topnotch and infallable?
Another thing that interests me is the looting. Boston just had a blackout I hear, and the looting was outrageous there too. I`d imagine they`re stealing goods of a different kind down in New Orleans, food and water perhaps. This had a point, but I`ve forgotten what it was gonna be. I suppose taking the things that are just gonna sit there rather than be sold to you when you need them is more than acceptable, and understandable after an event of 'Biblical proportions', as I keep hearing on news networks.
Speaking of biblical proportions... you know America didn`t pay something like half (or more) of the money it promised Asia after their Tsunami... I don`t consider myself too superstitious, but... perhaps... eh? America is home to the deadly sins... and the whole planet has been taking a beating recently, hottest summers, coldest winters, floods, politics, etc... America is being starved for it`s lifeblood, oil, which it will happily kill for...greed, hmm? Anyway, just my jumbled and incompletely expressed thoughts.
I hear thousands may be dead in LA. Makku, how goes it?
