I wish I could get into making my own AMVs, but I have a feeling it would take more hardware than I have. Does anyone know any downloadable software that might make editing and cutting video easier? And of course there is the sound sync to think of.
I think it would be really cool to form like an assembly line of people to make an AMV....like a concept design artist (to pic out a song that goes perfectly with an anime), RAW video clip person (to get quality clips with out those pesky subtitles), music sync person, to get all the clips to match parts of the songs, and overall editor. I know there are people out there now who do that, but I always thought that would be a cool way to go about things.
Does anyone do their own AMVs now? Or have you at least dabbled with it?

I make my own AMVs, or I used to! I haven't tried using the gear on this computer, since it's windows, but if you've got a decent mac with iMovie, you can easilly make your own AMVs. I'll try to make a few this year, depending on how much time I have, I'd really like to make one of FMA to something by Linkin Park, I'll have to start a story board...

Making AMV's is rather simple,in theory, and the software is widely available.Keep in mind that apart from the raw video, you will also need the music you intend to use in a *lossless* format, such as FLAC, APE or CDDA. You can use something as simple as Ulead Video Studio, which is essentially drag and drop,or for industrial strength editing, you can use Vegas Video or Adobe Premiere Pro,and it's sister motion graphics suite, After Effects. These represent the 2 extremes of the software you can use,and there are many in between with different feature sets. I mentioned these because I have a fair amount of experience with them, and know what they can do.If you are interested in learning more,Ulead acutally have free training video's on their site that you can dl and watch.Check them out here, and to see what can be done with After Effects, you can look at some great tutorials here.Have fun !

hmmm...i have a fair amount of experience in making AMV's as well. the latter two years of my high school experience i devoted some time to putting out a Video Bulletin which ran in the form of a news show, complete with "packages" people would make about a football game, or a rally, or some other topics. Everyone in there used IMovie because it is simple and to the point...but i was not content with it and, being hte rebel that i am, reverted to final cut. Im not saying im good but i put out some decent stuff, even made som e music videos, even put out a short movie. For windows i think that adobe premiere is teh awesome and dare i say it even compares to final cut pro. Unfortunately i dont have it and im kinda wondering if anyone had a copy they were willing to share =P. Im not good at it, but hte piece i was the proudest was one where i had a girl sit down on a ledge, and then that same girl appeared from the other side walkn along that ledge, and then kicked in a circle above the first appearances head, and the first appearance looked...it wa cool and kinda artsy. Im trying to recreate the HP photo commercial but i dont have auditions (hint hint, nudge nudge, wink wink, say no mo'). o.o
