too damn long for me to type it out but read this guide, it should clear up everything. www.mod-chip.com/ps2version.htmAs for my input here goes: If you have a PS2 that is version 1-3 either sell it or use the HD Loader MC Exploit which I will post in another thread. PS2 Version 4-8 use DMS3 or Magic V or Messiah 2 or Apple2 chips. I like the Messiah 2 chip the most though DMS2 is a great chip. Note: version 7 has been said by many to have the best laser. PS2 Version 9-10: If you own a PAL version of these, watch out cause there was a problem with a burn out issue on some of these machines (due to laser seeking). Best chips for these are DMS3 or 4, Magic V, Apple, Infinity, DUO. PS2 Version 11: Best chips for these are DMS3 or 4, Magic V, Apple, Infinity, DUO. PS2 Version 12 (PSTWO): DO NOT CHIP YET (Laser burn out issues have been known from the combination of the chip and voltage problem)..... I will post an update as soon as this is settled down in the near future. If you read about the diode fix etc, don't trust this fix to be 100% working as it is known that on some, that the laser will still burn out. Interesting is that it seems that the PSTwo has different voltage on from the mainboard on various machines. MOD AT YOUR OWN RISK. There I kept it as short as possible.

[glow=blue,4,300]Well, Staxx, thanks for that info. I intended on getting my PS2 modded in the near future but I had no idea version mattered.
If you bought your PS2 at Best Buy and actually purchased a 2-Year Replacement Plan you can lie about there being something wrong with your PS2 (if there really is something wrong then don't lie, but if there isn't, kick it or something) and get a brand new one. I used mine twice over the summer and ST and I got new PS2's. Hehe. Anyway, that can take care of the Version 1-3 PS2's... if you don't have the Replacement Plan then I can't help you.[/glow]
