[glow=red,2,300]*stands on soapbox* I just wanted to encourage everyone out there to get out and vote November 2th. Last election was proof that every vote counts! Not only is it your right but your civic duty! You pick who runs your country. Register to vote if you're 18 or will be 18 on the election day. You can go to your local DMV, town hall, and at www.rockthevote.com. Thank you. *gets off of soapbox*[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]When I went back home for the summer, I had to get my damned license replaced and while I was at the DMV they lady noticed I was 18 and asked me did I want to register to vote. So that was done in ten minutes and I didn't go in there for that. LOL, I feel like I have such great power!![/glow]

There's no point of voting if the choices won't affect me.

I'd go with the presidental vote but there wasn't a place to put a check by my name Besides that the only thing I've ever felt compelled to vote on was the issue of the smoking ban in my city, I don't smoke but banning it is bad for the general economy. As a result of the vote passing several bars and resturants have closed down from it, thus dealing a blow to the economy and potential places to eat, drink.

Yeah...I got harassed into registering this year. They recruit votes like they recruit military out here. "You are a terrible person for not voting for blah blah....What kind of American are you...blah blah blah." The girl got me to register after a 10 min convo consisting of me saying no like 10 times, and finally caving when she said that she honestly wanted my name on the list so she would look good in front of her superior. What I'm sick of, in all honesty, is the massive amounts of crap on MTV and other youth networks about voting. It makes me not want to vote to prove them wrong and make them cry. I'm very cynical about our government, as you can probably tell, but this time I feel like I'd be choosing between two evils. But I do think other countries should be concerned about who the US president will be. Then they will know who to bomb, because nobody likes us anyway No, I'm not bitter at all.

I vote because it's my right to. I don't want to vote at this presidential election because I'm not thrilled between either candidate. But I feel that at this point, you have to vote for the lesser of two evils. Not only that, but if voting is relatively free, I say go for it because it's probably one of the only things you'll be able to get. MTV bothers me because they're mostly one-sided about the entire thing. I consider myself a Democrat, and even though MTV seems to focus more on the liberal side, I think it's unfair to not show both sides. Now maybe I missed this since I'm nowhere near a tv I care to walk to (plus I have A.D.D., so I wouldn't sit down long enough anyway). Either way, I'm voting even if the candidates suck.

I'm all about "Cthulhu in 04': why vote for a lesser evil?" ;D
If you're gonna go evil you might as well go all out.

Wow, I feel all bad. You two are all serious and stuff. I wish I knew what was going on. I don't vote because I don't know anything. And I would like to know about everything I would vote on, even more so when it comes to people. I know, I should vote but I don't like to play e-ne-me-ne-mi-ne-moe game thingy. Besides, that takes too long.

Don't worry about it dark, some things are best left unknown. You'll sleep better at night not knowing about such things. Good sleep is hard to come by these days too

Good sleep is hard to come by these days too You definitely are right about that. It's hard to know some of the shady stuff that goes on concerning our government. Believe me, once you begin to learn stuff, you really begin to wish you'd stayed oblivious. I'd love to be in your position now.

To say so without bias to any person -- I believe it can't be stressed enough that to shirk one's responsibility to vote can be seen as rude and in a serious tense, vulgar. The lives of many have been sacrificed for our ability to this right and if ignorance is the only excuse that may be claimed your redemption may be found in simply learning and committing action. Matters of life can only become worse with the neglect of our people as each day we resemble the apathy of the once great empire of Rome which inevitably was doomed to fall. Not by it's enemies but the disposition of its own people too vicarious and ambitious with their lives to acknowledge bloodshed, currency and politics in war and their carefree lifestyle decided by those on their death beds, persistent to keep tradition and not the well being of their future generations. These are problems quite obvious and broadly summarized in a nutshell. Aside from becoming an official in politics a citizen's greatest asset is the ability to put their "two cents" in through the vote. Frightening as it may be the reality is that the government deals with everything in some shape or form, from the bills of higher education -your college- to the tax on a lollipop you buy a sibling at the convenience store after school. What motivation more than the knowledge of knowing it's importance does a person need to become involved? Damned. I'm missing Comedy Central because of this. By the by, has anyone seen South Park as of late?...

Voting is weak. My one vote matters not, so I stay out of it all.

Voting is weak. My one vote matters not, so I stay out of it all. Thank you. I think that all the time when someone tries to pressure me about voting (mostly family). "Your vote counts!" Keh. Yeah right.
